A blood test reveals any type of cancer 10 years before it appears

Without a doubt an important advance in medicine.

Within two years, a simple blood test may be able to identify any type of cancerous tumor up to ten years before it manifests in the body. The test was called a "liquid biopsy" by its inventors and is capable of doing extensive DNA analysis in the blood, as a way of anticipating any signs of eventual tumors.

The procedure is being developed by the Sloan Kettering Cancer Fighting Center, in the United States, according to information from the British newspaper Daily Mail. Until now, the investigations have already carried out the test to diagnose 161 patients with cancer in the lungs, prostate and breast .

Screening to detect cancer early
The results point to the success in 90% of the exams. In the case of tumors that are difficult to identify, such as that of the pancreas, the correctness is lower, 55%,

The "liquid biopsy" must be able to identify any type of tumor in any organ of the body. In the system, a complex process of DNA analysis occurs that gives signals that are related to the appearance of tumors.

If the project goes well, the researchers anticipate that it will be applied as a routine test, such as those done to detect high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Researchers estimate that after this test was popularized, the number of deaths caused by cancer could drop by as much as 50%. The Grail company, backed by billionaires such as Microsoft`s Bill Gates and Amazon`s Jeff Bezos, aims to conduct the first market tests in 2019.
