Lima Bar Association suspends Pedro Chávarry`s tuition for 18 months

CAL resolved that the former prosecutor of the Nation violated articles 1, 6 (number 3), 7, 8, 9 and 76 of the Lawyer`s Code of Ethics.

The Ethics Council of the Lima Bar Association decided to suspend the membership of the Supreme Prosecutor Pedro Chávarry for 18 months.

María Vera Tudela, Víctor Cabanillas Alhuay and Víctor Manuel Yamunaque Gómez decided to vote in favor of said measure.

According to the resolution to which La República had access, the council asserts that Pedro Chávarry Vallejos breached fundamental duties of the lawyer, disobeyed the law, did not demonstrate probity and integrity, was not truthful and was not an example of a professional.

Citizens Jorge Bracamonte Allain, Geronimo López Sevillano, Martha Cuenta Anci and Crus Silva del Carpio denounced the alleged member of Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto before the CAL due to the conversations he had with former Supreme Judge César Hinostroza.

The lawyer for the order, Pedro Gonzalo Chávarry Vallejos, incurred in alleged ethical misconduct, having repeatedly denied to public opinion the existence of meetings he held with Supreme Judge César Hinostroza, and also having support from the media so that support him in his appointment as then future prosecutor of the Nation, there are audios that were public knowledge ", they indicated in their complaint, which was declared well founded.

The magistrate`s defense tried to argue that “although he denied a meeting (with Hinostroza and Camayo) on one occasion, it was later rectified and acknowledged that it was a mistake to have denied it, explaining that the social context did not allow him to“ affirm it whenever he did not keep no type of irregular or transcendent act ”.

"This resolution may be challenged in accordance with the provisions of article 100 of the Lawyer`s Code of Ethics and article 30 of the Regulation of the Disciplinary Procedure of the Deontological Control Bodies of the Peruvian Bar Associations", it is clarified in the ruling.
