Peru signed an agreement to host the First World Gastronomy Congress.

Peru will host the First World Gastronomic Congress, as was announced this morning during the inaugural activities of the 2020 International Tourism Fair (FITUR), held in the city of Madrid.

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Edgar Vásquez, signed the agreement with the Basque Culinary Center which will grant our country the venue for the First World Gastronomy Congress - World Gastronomic Summit, which will take place in the last quarter of 2020 in Lima.

In this regard, the president of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), Carlos Canales, mentioned that this decision is thanks to the joint work between the public and private sectors, and also recognized the potential that gastronomy has in Peru and the importance that it has acquired internationally when promoting our country abroad.

“Peru is a specifically gastronomic destination. We work together with Mincetur and Promperú every day to diversify the tourist offer in our country. And it is that, apart from Machu Picchu, Peru has great wealth and an admirable biodiversity of ecosystems. One of the main objectives continues to be to offer new options so that foreign visitors not only get to know other regions, but also consume their rich gastronomy ”, declared Canales during the fair.

It should be noted that the First World Gastronomy Congress will bring together professionals from the entire gastronomy value chain, world leaders, as well as experts from different disciplines related to gastronomy, with the presence of the national and international press.
