Chilean Mauricio Cari Leal is recognized among the best programmers in the world in the TCS international contest.

CodeVita, is hosted by the Indian IT services giant, TCS. The competition holds the Guinness World Record for being the world`s largest computing and programming competition.

Mauricio Cari Leal, a student at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, won second place in the final of CodeVita, the international contest that invites university students with programming knowledge to compete for the title of the best programmer in the world. The Chilean won the title of 1st Runner Up and a prize of US $7,000 dollars.

In the 2022 edition of this contest, students from Latin America have had to test their knowledge by solving a series of computer challenges based on real problems. Through this tournament, TCS seeks to bring closer and deepen the interest of students in the area of programming.

“Through initiatives such as CodeVita we seek to identify and highlight Chilean programming talent. We want to encourage young programmers in Chile to continue deepening their STEM knowledge and skills, which are a fundamental tool for innovation”, highlighted Sol Besprosvan, Country Head of Chile.

CodeVita is a tournament developed to link TCS with bright students and give them an opportunity to gain experience and showcase their programming talents through real-life computer science internships, both locally and globally.

With more than 10 years of history, the contest attracts hundreds of thousands of students from all over the globe every year. In 2021, the contest won the Guinness World Record for being the largest programming tournament in the world. Throughout its history, CodeVita has created more than 12,500 job opportunities worldwide.

In the 2022 edition of the contest, more than 300 thousand students from all over the world participated and US $20,000 in prizes were distributed. In addition, the trophy was awarded to the `Best Programmer in the World`, which was obtained by Kalash Gupta, a student from India.
